Suggestions on How to Become Established as a Freelance Translator

Introduction

This page, and those following, offer suggestions drawn from my own experiences establishing myself as a freelance English-German translator in England. There is no guarantee that the same approach will work for you. These are merely suggestions that may assist you in your efforts to find work as a translator and to carry out this work with due regard to various considerations which I, personally, have found to be useful, time saving and cost effective. I believe the information I supplied to be correct, but I cannot be held liable for its accuracy, completeness or effectiveness.

It takes a lot of effort to find customers. If you provide excellent quality plus an above average customer service, if you are friendly, patient, and efficient, stick to your deadlines, offer value added services, double and treble-check your work, you will keep your customers happy and they will recommend a translator who keeps his promises.
